Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared?

#ad
4AD #ad - Why wake up in the morning? why hasn’t everything already disappeared? Deerhunter’s eighth LP forgets the questions and makes up unrelated answers. Whatever guitars are left are pure chrome, plugged straight into the mixing desk with no amplifier or vintage warmth. If there is one thing Deerhunter are making clear it is that they have exhausted themselves with that toxic concept.

Dada was a reaction to the horrors of war. The result is as thrilling, haunting, and unpredictable as anything in their roughly 15 year career. What is popular music today a reaction to? Shrink-wrapped. Hip hop was a liberated musical culture that challenged the notions presented wholesale about the African-American experience.

That is nostalgia. How do you describe an album out of time, of nature, of logic and emotion? Why make this album in an era when attention spans have been reduced to next to nothing, of humanity, concerned with the disappearance of culture, and the tactile grains of making music have been further reduced to algorithms and projected playlist placement.

Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared? #ad - It comes home, restructures itself and goes back to bed to avoid the bad news. It gets up, walks around, it records itself in several strategic geographic points across north america. What they spend their time doing instead is reinventing their approach to microphones, the drum kit, the harpsichord, the electromechanical and synthetic sounds of keyboards.

Deerhunter have made a science fiction album about the present.

Remind Me Tomorrow

#ad
JAGJAGUWAR #ad - 2019 release. Shrink-wrapped. Working with producer john Congleton, Remind Me Tomorrow reveals piano keys that churn, deep drones, distinctive sharp drums. I feel like a mess, but I'm here. Doing it. In the scraps of hours between these endeavors, Remind Me Tomorrow was born. Originally a piano ballad, "Comeback Kid" evolved into a dark, menacing anthem.

Remind me Tomorrow was written in stolen time. The breadth of van etten's new passions have inflected Remind Me Tomorrow with a wise, warped-time perspective. Van etten also had a child, and began studying psychology. Seventeen" began as a lucinda Williams-esque dirge, but winds up a star-spangled nod to Springsteen, exploring gentrification and generational patience.

Remind Me Tomorrow #ad - . In the four years since are we there, van etten guest-starred in the oa, and wrote her first film score and song for TV - for Kathering Dieckmann's Strange Weather Tig Notaro's show Tig, performed in David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, respectively. This record is about pursuing your passions. This is remind me tomorrow, fusing a pained attentive realism and radiant lightness about new loves.

The former is not the video for the latter; the latter is not the soundtrack to the former. The two projects are, “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other”—they share music and words and DNA and impulses and a vision about what it means to be human in 2019, as Mills calls them, but don’t necessarily need one another.

I Am Easy To Find #ad - The frontman and natural focal point was deliberately and dramatically side staged in favor of a variety of female voices, nearly all of whom have long been in the group’s orbit. The los angeles-based filmmaker was coming off his third feature, 20th Century Women, and was interested in working with the band on.

But all along, and on her vulnerable, all mirrors, Big Mood new album, Olsen was more concerned with a different kind of path, we can see her taking an introspective deep dive towards internal destinations and revelations.

All Mirrors #ad - But there's also an abyss above. Shrink-wrapped. In the process of making this album, she found a new sound and voice, a blast of fury mixed with hard won self-acceptance. The national- I Am Easy To Find. It is about losing empathy, trust, love for destructive people. It is about walking away from the noise and realizing that you can have solitude and peace in your own thoughts, that your thoughts alone can be just as valid, if not more.
